You know, an idea that occurred to me while I was in law school was that there should be proper training in running a small business for lawyers. Having just set up my own practice, and now knowing all the work involved, I’m more convinced than ever that some part of a lawyer’s training should be in business management.
It’s not the kind of course that really fits into the law school environment, but it could definitely be made part of the Articling qualification, and would be helpful for all lawyers entering private practice, not just those starting their own firms.
